WDP (wireless datagram protocol) Das Wireless Datagram Protocol (WDP) ist im Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) für die Kommunikation zwischen der Netzwerkschicht und den darüber liegenden Schichten zuständig. As a general datagram service, WDP offers a consistent service to the upper layer protocol (Security, Transaction and Session) of WAP and communicate transparently over one of the available bearer services. So ist es mit Einschränkungen (Zuverlässigkeit und Geschwindigkeit) möglich, eine schnurgebundene Ethernet-Verbindung nach IEEE 802.3 durch eine WLAN-Verbindung nach IEEE 802.11 zu ersetzen.
